Classes Dress Code

Creative Movement: (45 minutes) (3 years old by September 1st)
This class introduces basic fundamentals of dance and is designed to enhance gross motor development, listening skills, musicality, and the use of our imaginations!
Dress code: 205 White Bloch Ballet Shoes. Tights and leotards of any color. Tutus and skirts optional. Hair up and secure. No jewelry.

Preschool Combo: (1 hour) (4 years old by September 1st)
4 year olds learn basic fundamentals of ballet and tap in a creative, fun, and nurturing atmosphere.
Dress Code: 205 White Bloch Ballet Shoes and TA35 Caramel So Danca Tap Shoes. Tights and leotards of any color. Tutus/skirts optional. Hair up and secure. No jewelry.

Kinderdance: (1 hour) (5 years old by September 1st)
5 year olds learn basic fundamentals of ballet, tap, and are introduced to jazz dance. They learn musicality, coordination, and rhythm .
Dress Code:. 205 White Bloch Ballet Shoes and TA35 Caramel So Danca Tap Shoes. Tights and leotards of any color. Tutus/skirts optional. Hair up and secure. No jewelry.

Primary Combo: (1 hour) (6 years old by September 1st)
6 year olds learn vocabulary, musicality, flexibility and coordination in ballet, jazz, and tap.
Dress Code:. 205 White Bloch Ballet Shoes and TA35 Caramel So Danca Tap Shoes. Tights and leotards of any color. Tutus/skirts optional. Hair up and secure. No jewelry.

Acro: (45 minutes-1 hour depending on level) (Ages 4 and up)
Blends jazz dance with acrobatic skills. Students will learn tumbling skills while increasing flexibility, balance, strength, and coordination.
Dress Code: Leotard and dance shorts. No tights. Bare feet. Hair up and secure, no jewelry.

Jazz: (1 hour combo class or 1 full hour depending on level) (Ages 7 and up)
This class consists of warm-up, isolations, across the floor technique, and center choreography. Musicality, flexibility, coordination, and strengthening are focused in class. Dancers will also learn jazz terminology as well as the history of jazz. Styles of jazz include: Musical theatre, contemporary, lyrical, and modern jazz. Ballet technique in addition will help with a strong jazz execution.
Dress Code: 981 Tan Bloch Jazz Boot (Boys: Black Bloch Jazz boot)
Leotards and tights of any color. Dance shorts are optional. Hair up and secure, no jewelry.

Tap: (1 hour combo class or 1 full hour depending on level) (Ages 7 and up)
Tap class focuses on musicality, rhythmical sounds, and syncopated movements. Center warm-up, across the floor technique, and choreography to suitable music will be done in class. Both hoofer and Broadway style tap will be taught.
Dress Code: TA35 Caramel So Danca Tap Shoe (Boys: Black So Danca Tap)
Leotards and tights of any color, dance shorts optional.

Ballet: (1 hour class or more) (Ages 7 and up)
Ballet is the foundation of dance. Posture, alignment, and placement are the elements most focused. The Vaganova method will be taught and class will consist of barre exercises, center work, and traveling progressions. Correct ballet vocabulary will be learned as well as the history of the beautiful art. Dancers in higher levels, that take at least 3 hours per week, may advance to pointe work at the discretion of the director. It is vital that all types of dancers take ballet class and is highly encouraged here at CJDA.
Dress Code: 258 Pink Bloch Split Sole (Boys: Black Bloch Split Sole)
Black leotard, pink tights. Hair in a tight bun using hair nets and bobby pins. No jewelry. Boys in white t-shirt and black shorts.

Hip Hop: (45 minutes-1 hour depending on age.) (Ages 5 and up)
Hip Hop primarily focuses on isolations, funk, and rhythmical movement done to today’s popular music. Advanced levels will learn break dancing, popping and locking.
Dress Code: Girls: Black Bloch Dansneaker Boys: Flat sole all black sneaker. Comfortable clothing you can move in No Jeans.  Hair up and secure.

Contemporary/Lyrical: (45 minutes-1 hour depending on age/level) (Ages 9 and up)
This class fuses together classical ballet, jazz, and modern technique. Students learn to tell a story and use their emotions. Ballet is required to take this class.
Dress Code: Danshuz Nude Half sole. Leotards and tights of any color. Hair up and secure, no jewelry.
